Clothing Requirements

When starting out it is not necessary to buy any specialist equipment/clothing. You are welcome to borrow our equipment (or wear alternatives) until such time as you feel ready to invest in your own equipment.

Students must wear a safety approved riding helmet whilst riding and handling horses/ponies. Students are welcome to borrow one of our helmets (free of charge).

Experienced riders should wear long riding boots or jodhpur boots with chaps.

New riders may wear alternative footwear such as Wellington boots or sturdy shoes/boots with a broad heal. We do have a selection of boots that you are welcome to try on and borrow.

Riding gloves are recommended as are jodhpurs (or stretch trousers) as opposed to jeans which can chafe.

A body protector (safety approved to current standards) is optional but is particularly desirable for jumping lessons. We have a large collection of body protectors so feel free to borrow one (please ask).

Dangling earrings and protruding rings should not be worn as well as other jewellery which could cause injury. If in doubt please ask before you mount.

Long hair should be tied back.

We also recommend a sports strap to hold  your glasses in place.
